Can NUCCA Help Infant Brain Trauma?

German neurosurgeon, Dr. Heiner Biedermann is using a technique very similar to the NUCCA procedure to care for thousands of babies under the age of two who have experienced trauma during the birthing process. His study of more than 600 babies showed great success rates.

In Beidermann’s study, it was noted that the upper cervical spine contains the most proprioceptive afferent signals to the central nervous system.  Proprioceptors are sensory receptors chiefly found in muscles, tendons, and the inner ear that detect body motion or limb positioning. The brain requires proprioceptor input from the central nervous system to organize itself during  early development, but this process can be interrupted or arrested as a result of birth injury and impact on the brain stem and upper cervical spine.
